Apex Force Transfer Braking

APEX DISC MOUNT: The Breezer Apex Force Transfer (AFT) brake mount anchors the rear disc-brake caliper on both the chainstay and seatstay. This construction method offers both a strength and weight-savings advantage due to allowing the stress of the caliper’s braking force to be distributed over a larger area between two tubes instead of just the chainstay. The dynamic braking force inherent to this position also out of danger from objects that could impact it in a crash or while navigating technical terrain.

Breeze Compact Geometry

BREEZER COMPACT GEO: Joe created the compact frame geometry with the goal of having the smallest frame possible while using longer-length parts like seatposts so bikes properly fit riders. The benefits were both to save weight and increase stiffness for pedaling by having shorter frame tubes. Before this, road frames were traditionally very tall and used short seat posts. This was problematic because the small-diameter steel tubes would flex very easily. Joe’s geometry made the frames much more agile while also offering greater maneuverability both on and off road.

D'Fusion Tubing

D’FUSION TUBING: Breezer D’Fusion tubing uses an extensive hydroforming process to shape the ends of tubes that connect critical points in the frame. This process strengthens Breezer frames with a unique D-shape profile that eliminates the need of added weight and material by utilizing the tubing’s broad radius section (the flatter portion of the D) to allow stress to flow through a broader area, reducing the risk of fatigue. Along with the added strength benefit, the forming process also helps deliver the light and lively ride quality that Breezer frames are famous for.

Breeze-In Dropouts

BREEZE-IN DROPOUTS: Joe Breeze’s iconic Breeze-In dropouts offer twice the rigidity and half the weight of standard dropouts; after almost three decades they are still used by custom frame builders to this day. The hooded shape was a break-through in design that allowed two major advantages over traditional cast or forged dropouts. First was a much stronger connection between the chainstay and seatstay tubes to the dropout and the second was the ability to save weight by using less material for the forging. Breeze-Ins also enable the tubing length to extend as close as possible to the rear axle and avoid using heavy and stiff CNC yokes or mounting plates, keeping the tubing the star of the show and the ride quality as high as possible. Now made for both quick-release and thru-axle applications, Breeze-In dropouts improve shifting, wheel changes and, of course, ride quality.

JFE Steel

JFE STEEL TUBING: Used on flagship models, Breezer sources special, untreated tubing straight from one of the largest steel producers in the world based in Japan. This allows us to modify the outer shape and thickness of the tubes in ways that can’t be done with off-the-shelf, pre-treated tubing. The biggest advantage is the ability to hydroform the tubes to create Breezer's D’fusion profiles. This process requires special control of the tube temperature for forming that result in a shape that offers greater rigidity for the tube junctions without added weight.

Breezer Steel

BREEZER STEEL 4130 CROMO: The material Joe started with, and still the staple material for most Breezer bikes. Chromoly tubing has earned its place in cycling’s list of top-rated materials as it offers incredible strength-to-weight properties, up to 5 times the fatigue & tensile strength of 6061 aluminum, while also offering excellent ride quality. Add to this the ability to repair the material after welding and you can understand why adventure riders have trusted this material most to safely carry them around the world for decades.
