Description

When Joe Breeze designed the original Thunder, his idea was to make a bike that had geometry and components that allowed riders to explore the remote trails and hillsides of Northern California and beyond. That spirit lives on with the new Thunder. Still constructed with soulful ride quality and durability of steel, the new frame boasts some major advancements to allow adventure riders to explore deep into the woods outside of town or on the other side of the world.

Breezer Bikes ship partially assembled from the factory. We always recommend that a trained mechanic build your bike, but if you follow the assembly video and take your time, you can build the bike yourself.

Thunder 29er

This bike is sweet ride, love the flex of the steel, the absence of suspension forces you to be a better rider, pick a cleaner line. This bike also brings me back to my first mountain bike experience of just you and your bike.

Amazing bike with some nuances

I bought this bike a month ago while it was on a discount (1200 EUR in Slovenia). Took L size, perfect for 185cm. Do not take XL if you prefer relaxed riding position: even on L I had to install riser handlebars (70mm rise, 780mm width) to get rid of the feeling that I'm pushing a shopping cart.

That's all on my taste, but I do see two quite big flows with this bike:
1. Microspline. Just why? It's not a bike for racing, 11-51 is more than enough. Now you are locked to some pricey components. Wanted to switch to CUES when this cassette is worn out, but will be not able, probably. Since it has Formula hubs, good look trying to find HG freehub for it.
2. Fork is heavy as ****. It weights the same as the whole frame, I'm not joking! I don't expect to have a carbon fork on it, but it would be nice to have something lighter (that's why I swapped it to a 130mm suspension fork and now the bike is even lighter).

And another minor issue. Dropper post travel is too big. Having size L frame, when the seat post is fully inserted into the seat tube and extended is way too long for my height of 185cm: shorter people will struggle even more. The problem is the rivet nut for a bottle cage, which prevents the dropper to be pushed further. You either have to switch a dropper post to a version with less travel or to limit the travel somehow (I use a cheap solution with a shifting cable with two loops: one loop goes through the saddle rails, another around the quick release screw, the loops are hold together by cable clamps).

Otherwise it's a great bike for bikepacking and light trail riding, would change it only to some MTB/ATB with a gearbox, but they are too pricey in the EU.

29" tires are Awesome! Very happy.

Bicicleta para todo tipo de terreno

Después de 10 años de usar una mountain bike de aluminio con suspensión me compre ésta bicicleta . En la ciudad sentí el cambio de pasar a una bicicleta sin suspensión, notaba más duro al bajar de las veredas pero en ruta me sorprendió! Va muy bien en asfalta y va muy bien en tierra y en piedras, incluso en descensos . No extraño para nada la suspensión delantera, estoy muy conforme . Al igual que otro comentario ,no me gusta mucho el sistema de suspensión en el asiento, eso si me trajo problemas y le puse tija fija que me da más seguridad para viajes largos
Super recomendable para cicloturismo en todo tipo de caminos !!!

Breezer thunder

Bought this bike as a modern geometry hard tail that did not break the bank. The thunder is a perfect single track ripper. Excels on flowy single track as a steel hard tail should. Installed 100mm fork and increased the performance level. Love the external routing, A bike I can work on! Breezer customer service has been excellent. Thunder. Highly recommended.
