Description

The Doppler offers riders a traditional touring bike with smooth-rolling 650b tires that can venture into the dirt. 650b wheels offer a distinct advantage by offering a larger-volume tire that provides a comfortable and quick ride on pavement with greater cushion and traction on rough roadsÂ and unpaved surfaces. Ideal for loaded touring and harsh conditions, the Doppler frame offers classic road-bike geometry and a high level of functionality.

Breezer Bikes ship partially assembled from the factory. We always recommend that a trained mechanic build your bike, but if you follow the assembly video and take your time, you can build the bike yourself.

Great ride, great price.

- [ ] A review of the 2024 Breezer Doppler Team Plus.
- [ ] My current ride was a sixteen year old Jamis Coda Sport straight bar hybrid with rim brakes and I wanted to treat myself to an upgrade, an urban, commuter and off road bike. A SUV of bicycles.
- [ ] In my search over the years it seemed that the Fuji touring bike ($1400) was my best choice. But then I stumbled upon the Breezer Company.
- [ ] Steel has always been my choice for a frame and fork so I was pleased to see that this was the material used for the Doppler. That said, I like to invest in quality components and my current ride features Deore. So looking to upgrade, I again was happy to see Shimano 105 listed. As I have had 700c tires I was interested in trying 650b tires which also was included in the specs. Next was a drop bar with brifters and hydraulic brakes. In this case it is hydraulic calipers with mechanical cables. Add to that fenders and a front dyno hub light along with a battery (2032 button cell) rear light. Also I noticed that the rims had reinforced eyelets which from my past experience indicated a stronger rim. All this and thirteen percent off the original $1600 price making it $1400. But then they offered another ten percent and another five percent making it $1190.
- [ ] So I purchased the bike and a few days later it arrived with the shipping box intact but inside I found a dent in the fender with some scratches on the dent as well. I was surprised to find that the front brake caliper and cable were not already attached as it was shown to be in their assembly video. The company offered to pay for the local lbs installation but I was able to YouTube the install and brake adjustment. As for the fender, a replacement was offered as well.
- [ ] Riding the bike I found it to be light and fast. Other than adding the usual flat tire prep items (tube, tire levers and pump) I got a mirror and bell. Also I changed out the stem for a riser because of my sixty seven year old back. Now I am comfortable and really enjoying my rides. I would have liked to see a dyno rear light instead, but that is my only complaint. I ride mostly on the road and paved bike paths but did venture off onto a grass trail and the bike handled well for all. Overall I think that it is a great bike for a great price.
